This year was our family’s first year participation in the National Drive, Chip and Putt competition. It’s a competition for kids age 7 to 15 years old, designed to help the kids work on the three basic skills of golf – Driving, Chipping, and Putting.
On July 17, 2024, Minuet Jazz (Coconut Jr.) participated in the local qualifying event in Queenstown Harbor, Maryland. She won first place for her age group at the local completion. The win allowed her to advanced on to the sub-regional competition at River Bend Club in Great Falls in Virginia on August 19, 2024. At the sub-regionals, she came in third place for chipping.
Minuet Jazz and the second place winner got the same score, so I’m not sure how the scoring officials decide who get 2nd and who gets 3rd. Nonetheless, we are happy with the achievement. Coconut Jr. will be working on her skills and be back again next year, better than ever.
